Innovation for a better world

The Chemical and Petrochemical industry is an important market that takes its origins around the globe. Our expertise in this industry allows managers and their teams to benefit not only from our project management skills but also from our technical input, which could bring about an adjustment in the original plant and process design, and better fit the environmental/municipal requirements, the changing regulation, the climate and the target market.

You can rely on SOCANIN for the planning, engineering, procurement and construction phases of your facility or infrastructure in connection with the expansion of your plant, its relocation or the launch of a new product or process.

CLARIANT CORPORATION, Louisville, Kentucky, United States

Clariant developed a new series of Ziegler Natta (ZN) polypropylene catalysts to meet the demands of an ever-changing petrochemical industry. Their innovative ZN polypropylene catalysts opened strategic markets for Clariant and therefore triggered this greenfield project, the Polypropylene Catalyst Plant.

The project once commissioned, would make this Clariant plant the largest USA production hub for catalysts.

The complexity of the scope and aggressive time line caused challenges for the project. SOCANIN was mandated by the owner to identify critical issues and develop strategies to realign the project. After an initial audit, SOCANIN targeted key areas in order to deliver sustainable success for the project.

SOCANIN deployed key personnel within the owner’s Project Management team for planning, engineering supervision, procurement supervision and site supervision. SOCANIN also developed and led the effort and implementation of the commissioning strategy.

PTT POLY CANADA, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

PTT Poly Canada introduced a new product – Polytrimethylene Terephthalate (PTT) – a nylon replacement fibre, combining the best properties of both nylon and polyester to target the carpet and textile manufacturing markets; subsequently, PTT Poly Canada required a new plant and developed the PTT Montreal greenfield project. This greenfield project was designed to produce 95,000 metric tons of PTT per year.

SOCANIN was brought in by the owner and integrated into the owner’s Project Management team to identify and mitigate existing project challenges.

SOCANIN successfully renegotiated and reassigned all construction contracts and consequently managed, supervised and coordinated several equipment and contract packages. As the project neared its conclusion, SOCANIN personnel supported the plant’s commissioning activities and claim resolution management.
